ICIRCULATION：May I ask you several questions? You’re interested in interventional cardiology， so let’s talk about the DES? With many clinical trials， how to evaluate the efficacy of DES?

Professor Seong-Wook Park：Well， I think the DES is definitely very safe， compared with the bare metal stent， several papers are concerned about the late stent thrombosis with using DES， but if you look at the long term mortality and myocardial infarction rate， there is no significant difference between DES and BMS， I think the DES can definitely reduce the risk of re-stenting， don’t increase the myocardial infarction and death rate， so the default therapy， primarily， would be DES， with coronary stenosis.

ICIRCULATION：What’s your opinion on the late stent thrombosis in DES， and how to prevent it?

Professor Seong-Wook Park：The late stent thrombosis is very serious complication after placing the stent， as well as drug eluting stent， but to prevent the late thrombosis， I think the most important thing should be the continuation of anti-platelet therapy， so far we are told that anti-platelet therapy， including aspirin and clopidogrel should be continued to one year， but after one year， we don’t have data to continue or to stop the clopidogrel. But for the very complicated lesion， I think the anti platelet therapy should be used more prolonged period， so the most important thing should be the prolonged use of anti platelet drug， and the second important thing to prevent late stent thrombosis should be optimized stent extension， during the index procedure. We use the endovascular ultrasound， to optimally dilate the stent， in terms of technical aspect， complete position the stent to the vessel wall， and it is very important to prevent the late stent thrombosis

Professor Seong-Wook Park：This meeting is very big， very educational and very well-organized.
